_____________________________________________________________________________________________________________ | Chairperson's Message 1 March 2012 We are already 2 months into the year 2012 and I hope all our readers have had a successful start to this year. Below are snippets of news from the three regions. Thanks to the regions presidents for these. All the regions have been busy planning projects for the coming year and in most cases the next year. Presently we hope to discuss with Industry how we may progress some of these projects and how they could assist the IOA CC in our coordination role. Many Country member associations are helping other members maintain or expand their association or are assisting the establishment of new associations. |
WORLD OSTOMY DAY October 6, 2012 - SATURDAY The worldwide campaign is designed to raise awareness by highlighting to the general public and global community the challenges faced by Ostomates. Many national ostomy associations are conducting public events to celebrate the day. We will promote advocacy to enhance public awareness of the vital work of ostomy associations and encourage fellow ostomates to realize that such associations exist to help them experience a better quality of life. IOA CC Chairperson's WCET Adelaide Congress Report 19-23 April 2012 The opportunities that have accrued from attending the WCET Congress in Adelaide and making the most of the opportunities to network were extremely valuable. Many group and individual meetings were sought. Contacts with President Louise and members of the WCET Board were invaluable.
Many opportunities were taken to meet with Industry and ET's from around the world where projects are mooted or underway. | World Ostomy Day Symposium Report Zhuhai China - 24 March 2012 In late February, I was invited by Song Yanli from Coloplast to attend the above symposium. On Thursday 22nd March, on the way to this WOD symposium, the opportunity was taken to visit Hong Kong Stoma Association (HKSA) and the Coloplast Regional Office. I am grateful to Jackie Lam who organized my visit that coincided with a "Big Day Out" for Hong Kong Ostomates and their families. I was able to taxi from the airport and join them at their office at 9.30 am to go on a bus tour that included a visit to the "Hong Kong Flower Show." Over 50 took this opportunity.
