Chairperson's Message

5 April 2013

Dear Ostomates and readers of our IOA website,
Greetings to all of you.

Below you will find some updated reports from the 3 regions.

Posted shortly will be a report about World Ostomy Day and a list of winners of the Coloplast merit regional awards, the Hollister photo competition and the ConvaTec video competition for youtube.

Thanks go to Ria Smeijers and Anne Demick who coordinated a very successful World ostomy Day.

One of the highlights of the past year is the work that has been going on to improve the life of ostomates wherever they live.

Stoma World Kenya

The group is the latest member association of the EOA. They described being part of the IOA and EOA as a symbolical gift since they were accepted in October during the celebration of World Ostomy Day.

The group aims to help and bring awareness to the general public especially in Kenya. This has brought big impact where many joined the group for psycho-social support and as volunteers.

The 20/40 Survey Questionnaire

Dear Ostomates in the 20/40 age group,

This support group has been in existence for nearly 15 years.

The present IOA 20/40 coordinator Ronaldo Lora, from The Philippines, has constructed a survey to gather young ostomates’ ideas from around the World about how to move forward in the next few years and other important issues for each of you. Click Read More to continue reading details

Providing Answers for Ostomy Questions

The Phoenix is the official publication of the United Ostomy Associations of America. It provides solutions to the many challenges of living with a colostomy, ileostomy, urostomy or continent diversion (j-pouch, kock pouch, etc.). From skin care to nutrition to intimacy, in-depth articles written by medical professionals, authors and ostomates show readers how to return to a full and rewarding life with an ostomy. Subscriptions are a major source of funding for the UOAA to help improve the quality of life of people who have, or will have, an intestinal or urinary diversion.

The Phoenix magazine is published quarterly - March, June, September and December. For more information, please visit phoenixuoaa.org.
